You do not need a glass igloo to see the Northern Lights.

A glass igloo doesn't improve solar activity.

It doesn't clear the clouds.

If seeing the Northern Lights is the main reason you're travelling, this is one area where we wouldn't automatically choose the cheapest option available.

A proper Aurora hunt in Murmansk involves more than somebody driving you to a dark parking lot.

Conditions change.

Clouds move.

Aurora activity changes through the night.

The guide may need to alter the viewing location based on the local weather and forecast.

Russia currently offers a unified e-visa system that can be used for tourism by eligible travellers. The official Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the unified e-visa is single-entry, valid for 120 days from issue and allows a stay of up to 30 days. A processing fee applies.
